[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Nature in Jordan:
The entrance of the Khazali Siq in the Wadi Rom is marked by a Punjab Fig tree (Ficus palmata). This same tree species was presened by Ori Sapir (fragman) on TN and for the same location, that’s where I have the ID from (see here). According to “Flora of Pakistan” (www.eFloras.com) it occurs in Nepal, N. & N.W. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Arabian Peninsula, Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia and S. Egypt. How can the seeds disperse over such a wide area? The Khazalis siq is not far from the port of Aqaba and the maritime “Spice road” and Arab merchants might have carried the fruits and seeds from place to place.
What I found also interesting are the inscriptions inside the siq, in Sufi script, but also in presumed old-arameic and nabateic scripts. There are a few engravings of animals living here thousands of years ago. |

Hi Dietrich,i remember very well this natural door, not far to Aqaba and one of the most beautiful corner of Wadi Rom,not lucky with the light in this capture but the quality is very excellent, interesting note too about the indian fig, well done! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano
Ciao Dietrich, great view of fantastic place, wonderful natural colors, excellent clarity and splendid light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio
very beautful place. I would love to walk through that
Hello Dietrich,
Beautiful formation of Red Rocks and like this POV. Well exposure and good details. Here left side tree looks bit over sharpened, IMHO and selective sharpening could have been a better choice (Hope you know).
Thanks for sharing,
Regards and have a nice week,
Srikumar
