Compositae/Astreacea /Centaurea eryngioides Lam.

Ephemeral, non-succulent, found growing in the mediterranean region, in hard rock outcrops in shrub-steppe and desert areas.

I took this photo while I was inspecting a grazed area within the nature reserve (fire belt). Evidently thorny type plants, such as this centaurea, were quite abundant to say the least.

My favorite. :)
The nettles and landscape look very hostile, violent...and then there is a perfect, beautiful, feminine bloom rising out of it. The POV, comp. and exposure are great. I am glad to see the flower is not overly saturated either...just right. Scenic photography seems to be your knack...and you certainly have an eye for it that I envy. Always learning from you...

Those thorns look deadly! I love this bright capture, the foggy blurred background highlights the plant so well. Very nice color and focus, well done.

I am surprised to see my "friend" be such a spiky edition in the Lebanon.

I like your shot a lot where you captured both a blooming flower as well as a spiky bud!

The knapweed I am familiar with - and love for its flowers and the attraction of bees , butterflies and goldfiches - is not "armed" to fight off grazers. See NS flower here.
