The waxwing of the deserts. Hypocolius! We met with these incredibly beautiful birds at a desert oasis in the middle of nowhere! But really, nowhere!
We drove more then 90 kilometers from the closest city in the sand dunes of Dhofar region and came across to an oasis with palm dates and acacias.
What a beautiful country... Oman. |

Hello Emin,
This is truly a gorgeous waxwing and one I have never seen before. I love the contrasting gray, black, white and beige colors in it's plumage. It has the typical waxwing markings and features yet it is still unlike any waxwing I have ever witnessed. Wonderful sharp focus displaying excellent detail. Exposure is right on the money and you managed to obtain that ever sought after catchlight in it's eye. Great work!!

Hi Emin,
Nicely isolated the bird from BG. Perfect BG with well composition. Details and color of bird as well as thorny branch are really nice.
Thanks for sharing this Waxwing,
Best wishes,
Srikumar
