Laudakia stellio picea (Black Hardun, Orange Spotted Agama) [in Turk: Siyah Dikenli Keler, Portakal Lekeli Dikenli Keler]

As I stated in my previous post, we encountered with this Levantine lava rock beauty in Dara and As Suwayda regions (SW Syria). Here you can see a male from the Antique Roman city Bosra (As Suwayda) while basking. I also attached an another more mature male showing more typical paternal features of the race as a WS (WS-1). I am pretty sure that these three shots which I am presenting here are the first posts of the race on TN!

TFL and Have a nice new week!
Cheers,

Differentiation of L. s. picea is based mainly on its unique colour: males are typicaly jet black, often with yellow to orange (sometimes brownish) cross bars on the tail, sometimes with traces of yellow to orange spots on dorsum and toes. Females (and juvenilles) are black, with bright rounded yellow to orange spots on the head and body, those on body are arranged in rather irregular transverse rows. Intermediate colour forms occur in contact zone between L. s. stellio and L. s. picea (See attached WS-2, a macro captured in Bosra, As Suwayda).

Hello Bayram,
Amazing capture. Nice POV and excellent colours. Very good sharpness and marvellous
details. Exceptional background and contrast.
Marius.

Ciao Bayram, great pose for this fantastic creature, fascinating composition with splendid light, wonderful colors, excellent sharpness and fine details, very well done my friend, bravo amico mio, ciao Silvio

Hallo Bayram
Great photography!. I'll give my left hand's pinky to be able to photograph a beauty like this. The colours and details are unbelievable and portrays so well on the screen, especially the long tail with its rough texture. I cannot find fault at all with this excellent photograph. I can only but sing my praises. Indeed a pleasant photograph with lots and lots of detail to appreciate. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna

Very nice composition. The colors, lighting, and texture all captured with excellence. Beautiful picture. I'm glad I had a need to look at TrekNature today, since I haven't participated in quite a while. Thanks for posting this picture!

Dear little brother,
I am glad I found this photo in your portfolio. A perfect candidate for my theme "Camouflage"
Thanks for sharing.
The more photos I see , the more I am in awe of evolution! The way this agama has adapted to his habitat is amazing.

You balanced perfectly exposure between the rock and the animal.

Thanks for the educational notes,
Have a good week,
Warm greetings from
Ingrid
