[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I thought this species is common on TN. I have searched its English and Latin name. I saw only one post here. I think this is second post and first flying capture on TN.
Today, it was sunny and we went to picnic, with my two children and wife. I heard a loudy voice among poplar trees and I hold up my camera. Firstly I captured this one in flight on the post and then I saw several ones, roosting on trees
. This was 189th bird species in our university campus area and it is Turdus viscivorus - Ökse Ardıcı [TR], Mistle Thrush [EN] from the famiy TURDIDAE (PASSERIFORMES). The family is represented by 29 species in Turkiye and six of them belong to the genus Turdus. These species are;
*** - Turdus torquatus – Boğmaklı Ardıç (Ring Ouzel)
*** - Turdus merula – Karatavuk (Blackbird)
*** - Turdus pilaris – Tarla Ardıcı (Fieldfare)
*** - Turdus philomelos – Öter Ardıç (Song Thrush)
*** - Turdus iliacus – Kızıl Ardıç (Redwing)
*** - Turdus viscivorus – Ökse Ardıcı (Mistle Thursh).

I also observed two of them: T. merula and T. pilaris in same area.
Like English vernacular name, Turkish name of T. viscivorus, namely Ökse Ardıcı comes from the Viscum album (Ökseotu), which parasitic plants on trees and this thrush like its seeds. Already, scientific (Latin) name was originated in same word: mistletoe eater from viscum (mistletoe) + vorare (eat).

Günaydin Ahmet Dostum!
The Mistle Thrush is not easily approached, which is why I and many others have not posted it on TN.
You have taken a fine in-flight that show the features with excellent sharpnessand lighting.
For us the best time is in April when they come to us in small flocks from the south before they begin to nest. I shall try again!
Thanks and have a good week MF,
All the best,
Ivan

Hi Ahmet.
I think to take in-flight shot with 600 mm monster-lens is too difficult task. You have solved it very good. Impressive wingspread of the bird, nice details and exposure. We have a nice idea about this species owing your picture. Thanks a lot and kind wishes.
Alexei.
