|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
Nemrut is the biggest crater lake in Turkey. It was named after the Babylon King Nemrut, who lived in 2100 BC. As a result of the renewal of Volcanic activity the eastem twothirds of the caldera has
been partially filled with Volcanic products leaving only the crescent-shaped western third
to be occupied by the lake. Nemrut Lake is six kilometers long, two kilometers wide, and
of unknown depth. İts water is fresh and maintained at its level largely by rainfall but in
part by peripheral springs. The hot water lake has a temperature of 60°C. The deepest point is 100 meters. Nemrut Lake is 26 km away from Bitlis and 15 from Tatvan. The lake attracts the attention of both local and foreign tourists although there are no rest or accommodation facilities. The Bitlis Governorship continues efforts to open the area to tourism.

Abdurrahman, very interesting picture and description..I am just wondering if the size of the lakes you included is accurate: 13mx2m and 3mx2m is like a bathtub..on the picture lakes look much bigger. Just currious!

Magnificent, superb countryside.
Very nice shots.
If the photo was a little bit wider we could see more details of the crater.
