Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus) hopfferi, (Herrich-Schäffer, [1851])
Hopffer's Blue

Turkish Name: Hopfer'in Çokgözlüsü Kelebeği

Distribution in Turkey: Central, Eastern and Northern Anatolia.

Distribution in the world: Endemic.

Living Area: 1000 -1500 meters above sea level, dry, stony places.

Flight time: A single generation. July to early-August.

Food Plants of the caterpillar: Hedysarum varium, and probably other legumes (Fabeceae).

Description-Notes: Rare endemic species. Male can be confused with Poseidon Blue, but the uppersides on the latter are much brighter blue with virtually no dark scales along wing margins. Uppersides of male are light grayish-blue with dark borders and lack darkened veins found on similar "Furry Blues". Whitish hindwing sreak is barely visible on grayish-beige ground color, but brownish marginal spots on both wings are usually better developed.Hindwing postmedian spotband is often complete, but spots may be quite small and white rings around them quite inconspicuous.

Wingspan: 34-37 mm long.

Hello Seyfi,
Another masterpiece from your hand. Fantastic sharply detailed butterfly in splendid bright colours and a fine composition. Good DOF and blurry background.

hallo seyfi
great sharpness composition with nice light and beautiful colours
thanks greeting lou

Hi Seyfi. A very elegant shot. I love the position he's in and you chose a great POV. I like the two tones of colour on the flower that go with the two tones of colour on the butterfly. What a match. A beautiful shot. It even has a nice glow to it. TFS Trevor

Hello Seyfi,
Your Nikon camera and Sigma macro lens combination worked wonders on this beautiful image. Both butterfly and bloom are shown in outstanding detail and vivid yet natural colors.
I never seem to have any luck at photographing these tiny butterflies. The coppers and blues around here always seem to land so very low to the ground and I would have to lay on my stomach just to get them in the lens. Your shot looks like you were eye level. The BG is very pretty and compliments the subject perfectly. Well done!!

Hello Seyfi,..Beautiful picture.Excellent details and colour.I like its presentation with nicely managed BG and eye-catching composition.Like it.Thanks for sharing,Regards and have a nice time,-Srikumar

Hi Seyfi.
What a pictorial and attractive BG. It supplements amazing main subject simply perfectly. Pictured butterfly and blossoming plant create a beautiful composition with perfect details and lovely vivid colours. Main subject is isolated from BG extremely well TFS and warm regards.

Hello Seyfi,
Have missed some of your shots, actually I'm rarely on this site, having had problems to chase butterflies... I will choose this one because it is a species we don't know around here. As usual very fine and sharp picture.
