Common Name: The Rose's Blue
Turkish Name: Rose’nin Çokgözlü Kelebeği.
Distribution in Turkey: Eastern Anatolia – Van Province.
Distribution in the world: Endemic.
Living Area: It is seen on stony slopes with sparse vegetation at a height of 2,000 meters above sea level.
Flight time: For a year one generation is developing. From flies from mid-June to late June.
Food Plants of the caterpillar: The caterpillar feeds on the Hedysarum syriacum.
Description-Notes: Type locality : Van-[Turkey]. Polyommatus rosei is located only in Van province with its 1 km2 living area. A very very rare and very small. Both sexers resemble Persian Blue, but male is lighter bright blue with narrow black borders and lacks darkned veins. The female's wings are sooty black and the rear wing carries pale orange spots on the outer edge.
Wingspan: 20-24 mm long.
The origin of the name: Rosy-cheeked and cheery, Rosie (also spelled Rosy). She's one of the perky nickname-names that are filling the popularity lists of other English-speaking countries.
Endangerment factors : Polyommatus rosei strongly endangered. [CR] Critically Endangered
