Geranium Argus
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
It was very little butterfly which is living near a lake on Ahi Mountains. After a rain we found it unter a Geranium flower, perhaps it was hiding itself to protect from the rain. When we disturbed it, it showed us its beautiful wings.
I guess that it is a common blue. But not sure.
2x Kenko TC, Fill Flash.
Update: Many thanks to Argus for ID. He told me that this is a Geranium Argus (Eumedonia eumedon) [Turk: Turnagagasi Çokgözlüsü]. |

Hello Fevzi,
This is an excellent capture of the Geranium Argus (Eumedonia eumedon), sitting on the flower of its larval host plant. Superb colours lighting (good use of flash) and sharpness.
It is not that common in Turkey, being confined to the mountains.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Regards, Ivan

Fevzi merhaba,
Koyu arka planı ve netliği ile çok güzel bir fotoğraf. Eline sağlık. Selamlar

Hello Fevzi,
brilliantly clear, well detailed capture of the Geranium Blue. The droplets of rain on the geranium blossom add to the pleasure of viewing that image.
In summer 2008, I could see that rare butterfly for the first time in Austria, too. Its habit of closely staying to the caterpillar's feeding plant helps to tell that species from all the other similar looking blues.
With thanks, and best regards,
Peter
