[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As a zoologist not indeed a professional on insects, i sometimes wonder why most of my photos belong to them. Maybe because of their abundance. In university, a lecturer of entomology said that she accepted them as the jewellery of the nature. This view can change depending on who you are. But it is a fact that they are stronger than many species, including us.

In the middle of a depressing academic office day, i nwet out with my camera for some relief to find several small (at most of 2 mm length) flies resting on the wall. To unspecialized eyes of mine, they were indifferent from a group of young house flies. But getting closer i noticed that this is not the case.

As you can see, the appearence and coloration is very atypical. Actually the fly sits vertically, therefore the photo is rotated counter clockwise. For record, i found a difficulty in getting a regular pose as they flew away just as the flash triggered.

According to internet resources my fly the alien was from the family Dolichopodidae, possibly the genus Medetera.

Hello Umit,

Very sharp picture of this fly. Good POV. Very nice detail. Beautiful metallic colours.
Very well done,

Ümit nefis bik makro olmuş. Açık renk zeminde siyah sinek çok belirgin olmuş. Eline sağlık.

Still me Umit,
this one is again a fantastic capture, perfect in all points,
well done,

Hi Umit,

A very unusual pose for an insect, you've captured it with great details and you did a good job working with the snow also. Congratulations!

Hi Umit,
Last summer i faced these interesting tiny flies in our garden with their characteristic perpendicular postures on a trunk which was used for conveying electricity. All of them were sitting in this pose and a bit shiny metallic abdomens made them amazing looking! i tried to get some shots, but they are so tiny to get the enough detail and beautiful presantation. But you have really succeded to show great details with wonderful clarity!

i'm still wondering which species they are!
