[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Terns are supposed to be elegant birds, but Sandwich Terns, with their ridiculous shaggy crown, frequently drooping wings and harsh nagging call really let the side down. They are bigger and bulkier than other British terns with a short tail and no tail-streamers. The wings are long, plain and particularly pale with black restricted to the outermost primaries. At close range the long black bill with a yellow tip is diagnostic.
Breeds on sandy areas near the coast or on islands.
Reasonably common but local breeder, mostly on the east coast. Passage birds are seen around all coasts, particularly between July-October. The species is scarce inland.
Locally abundant at specific coastal sites around Europe.
14 000 breeding pairs in Britain, mainly found in protected nature reserves. In Ireland a further 4 400 breeding pairs are found.
120 000-140 000 breeding pairs, found mainly in Holland, Germany, Britain and the Ukraine. Smaller populations occur in Russia, France, Italy and Spain.

Alptekin tebrikler! oe of hard to track birds, you did well with drops and light.

Nice shot, good pose and POV. Oe a little would have been better to get details on it's face.
Well done.

Merhabalar Alptekin Bey;
Çok güzel bir anı yakalamışsınız, renkler, konumlandırma, ışık herşey çok güzel.

Ellerinize sağlık.

Good in-flight shot and we can clearly see the diagnostic features of the tern, well done.

Having spent many hours on holiday trying to get this sort of shot, I know how difficult they are. Very well done.

Hi Alptekin,
Love the pose & composition, the drops of water are a great addition. Only wish the eye glinted through.
