Scientific classification
Kingdom: Plantae
Division: Magnoliophyta
Class: Mangnoliopsida
Order: Caryophyllales
Family: Caryophyllaceae
Genus: Agrostemma
Species: A. githago

It is a stiffly erect plant up to 1 metre tall and covered with fine hairs. Its few branches are each tipped with a single deep pink to purple flower. The flowers are scentless, are 25 mm to 50 mm across and are produced in the summer months - May to September in the northern hemisphere, November to March in the southern hemisphere.

Each petal bears 2 or 3 discontinous black lines. The five narrow pointed sepals exceed the petals and are joined at the base to form a rigid tube with 10 ribs. Leaves are pale green, opposite, narrowly lanceolate, held nearly erect against stem and are 45 mm to 145 mm long. Seeds are produced in a many-seeded capsule.

All parts of the plant are reported to be poisonous.

It can be found in fields, roadsides, railway lines, waste places, and other disturbed areas.

Hello Fevzi,
This is a beautiful sharp capture of a Corncockle flower, a species that has become very rare in Sweden due to modern agriculture. The simple compostion together with the developing seed capsule after flowering is attractive and the fine green bokeh sets its off well.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Best regards,
Ivan

Bonjour Fevzi,
Très belle et délicate composition très bien détaillée dont le nom français est "Nielle des blés" et qui semble en voie de disparition chez nous.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

Hi Fevzi,
The saying "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder" is not without any meaning..and look at the way you found this nice little treasure growing in the most common places where man least expect to find nature's bounties.Your creative talent shows off in abundance in this superb yet simple composition that present two simple stems one with a flower against a smooth very much blurred Bg.
Of all the things like colour, lighting, contrasts it is the PoV and the composition that takes all the mark. This is original creativity at its best. The shot is crisp and sharp and presented with a very fine crop and frame.Thank you for presenting this beautiful poisonous beauty..into my favourites.

Cheers
