[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday, I visited Melendiz Mts again. Firstly we arrived to Altunhisar Town and drived to Keçiboyduran Hill. Our main purpose to find dragonfly of Cordulegaster insignis (ODONATA: CORDULEGASTERIDAE) for my friend Gert Jan van Pelt from the Netherlands. We found three speciemens of this dragon and I also saw this bird at the altitude of 2180 m. I think it had youngs that it carried often some caterpillars to same points among stones in alpine zone. Also it gave gently some poses and I took them by camera on hand and from 4-5 m.
The bird is Emberiza hortulana Linnaeus, 1758 - Kiraz Kuşu [TR], Ortolan or Ortolan Bunting [EN] from the family EMBERIZIDAE (PASSERIFORMES). I searched on TN and I saw only three posts previously. All of them were posted from Turkiye. I think it is relatively rare. But web pages and books e.g. Wikipedia noted that a native of most European countries and western Asia the Ortolan migrates in autumn to tropical Africa, returning at the end of April or beginning of May. Its distribution throughout its breeding range seems to be very local, and for this no obvious reason can be assigned.
The genus Emberiza is represented in Turkiye by 12 species as fallows;
*** Emberiza buchanani,
*** Emberiza caesia,
*** Emberiza cia,
*** Emberiza cineracea,
*** Emberiza cirlus,
*** Emberiza citrinella,
*** Emberiza hortulana,
*** Emberiza leucocephalos,
*** Emberiza melanocephala (my post from Niğde),
*** Emberiza pusilla,
*** Emberiza rustica,
*** Emberiza schoeniclus.

Dedication for fallowing three collaborators in yesterday's trip; Ferhat TOPRAK who was master student under my supervisorship and now he works for his PhD degree in Gazi University and Mustafa ULUDOĞAN, who is my friend from Education Faculty of Niğde and also Gert Jan van PELT who is odonatologist from the Netherlands and good friend.
I hope you will like it.

Hi Ahmet,

I'm sure I would never see these birds if not for your posts. Beautiful pose and looking very proud of whatever that is he has in his beak. Wonderful colors, details, background and composition.

Hello Ahmet,
Nice view of this Bunting that's very rare in Europe. I like its pose here with a Moth? in its beak. Good focus on the eye and the white ring around it. It has beautiful colours of the plumage that you've captured well.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Ahmet.
I like the composition created by fine bird and stone. Framing and cropping are too brilliant. BG is very unusual, attractive and suitable for the subject. I also like great sharpness and details of the bird, impressive lights and shadows. Well done and TFS.

Merhaba Ahmet,
Pastel renklerle kaplı bir artalanda çok güzel bir kompozisyon olmuş. Eline sağlık.

Hi Ahmet,
I believe this is one of the species that has suffered very much of the modern farming and is quite rare anywhere it is seen. Excellent capture with good pose and composition, sharp details and nicely blurred BG.
