[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The golden hamster, Mesocricetus auratus, is a very well-known member of the rodents, because they are also pet animals. This one is ancestor of the pet shop hamsters. In the wild they are now considered vulnerable. Their numbers have been in decline because of loss of habitat by agricalture.
This photo was taken during the study of ecology of Mesocricetus auratus in Turkey. The study was performed by the head of Nuri Yiğit, Rolf Gattermann and Robert Jonston. I was research asistant in this project. During three years we studied the activity, maiting, feeding ect. of this animal. After second sduty years, Prof. Dr. Rolf Gattermann (Big Boss) died.
With this shot we remember him.
