Turkish Name: Melike Amannisa Kelebeği

Distribution in Turkey: Kırklareli Thrace.

Distribution in the world : Turkey, Eastern Europe-Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Northern Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and the southern Swedish coast, South Siberia, and the (Eastern Fritillary-Korea).

Living Area: Heights of up to 300-1000 meters altitude meadow-pasture areas, wet or dry, chalky-calcareous soil areas are seen.

Flight time: May the end of August, one or two generations of per-forming flies.

Food Plants of the caterpillar: Caterpillars feeding on plants, Plantago lanceolata and Veronica species develops.

Description-Notes: This butterfly is a common species in Europe. Very local the species. Is very rare and distributed in a few isolated colonies. In a medium sized butterfly. Orange, Brown, White, Black with beautiful colors and patterns from the same family, very similar to the butterfly Amannisa. Amannisa with dark-colored edge strip at the bottom of the lower wing is divided into butterfly. Amannisa butterfly, this band is white. Wing tops, thick dark brown on orange, decorated with patterns.

Origin of the name: Britomartis (Greek mythology) - Cretan goddess, the patroness of fishermen and sailors, the companion of Artemis.

Endangerment: Endangered. Listed as vulnerable in Red Data Book of European butterflies (van Swaay & Warren, 1999: 175).

Wingspan: 29-38 mm long.
