[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday I was at my summer resort. It was very hot. When the time was 4.00 o'clock I had a little trek in my garden to take some photographs.

First I saw very beautiful butterfly but it caused a lot of work me and unfortunately I could not manage. Suddenly I heard a special noise that belongs to a snake. I got excite and a I was a bit afraid of this. But my desire supressed my fear and I went to towards the voice. I saw it! It was very green and 15 - 20 cm diameter, about 200 cm lenght. Terrible! But it moved very quickly and hide among long grass. I worked hard to capture it but I could see only 20 cm part of its body. It was impossible to catch it. Finally I missed.
I was very sad.

But my chance was with me, Thanks God. I heard a new periodic voice like "slap... slap... slap..." There was a little water canal and the voice was coming from there. At once I went towards the voice and I saw this interesting bug. It must be a Cordulegaster picta. It was jumping on the water and digging up the earth under the water with back part of its body. It was very interesting. I thought that it is a female and it is laying eggs into the earth under water. I captured immediately lots of shots. But I was very excited and I didn't think to change settings of my camera :) It was auto mode. Actually I could take better then this one, if I used manual adjustments. Chance :). This is my first capture belongs to a moving bug. I hope you understand me. To capture this shot was very difficult for me :)

I promised to send some photos about sunset from Iznik lake. I'm sending day by day to TrekEarth and TrekLens. If you interrested in them, you can visit:

Merhaba Fevzi Bey,

Selamlar abi.

Hi Fevzi, an intresting capture, I think you did realy well with the capture, a difficult subject at the best of times so well done with this, we can see it reasonably clearly, in fact clearly enough combined with the habit information you gave to give you a deffinate ident for it with out having seen one my self. So why is it not a Aeshna cyanea well the colour is wrong but most importantly the way you described it depositing eggs was not correct for this species but a classic way for the "Golden Ringed" group of dragon flies so all I did was type in Cordulegaster (Which is the family name for this group) into Google and looked both at the picture images, but more import for yours was a comparison of 2 Turkish species and their differances in the main section http://www.libellen.org/epallage/pubs/cordulegaster.html have a look for your self and see what you think ,but I am sure you will agree that Cordulegaster picta is it because yours has Green Eyes.
Hope this is of use yours Robert

Merhaba Fevzi Bey.

Hi Fevzi !
You have done your best and the result is quite nice ! The dragonfly is a bit blurry, but still a great shot, it's very difficult to capture flying insects ! The water makes a beautiful BG, colors and composition are good, POV is excellent. Your note is very interesting. Well done !
Valérie.

Merhaba,

Hi Fevzi,
Nicely captured. Good shot.
