Black-billed Cuckoo
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Rare for Treknature .... Black-billed cuckoos are a fairly numerous North American species(found east of the rockies) that are heard more often than seen - as they prefer to spend their days in fairly thick cover. Their call, not to be taken personally, is a rapid repetitive Coocoocoo. I got lucky with this one which poked it's head out for a few seconds before flying away.

Hello Derek,
Nice pose and captured with excellent clarity and details.

Hello Derek,
The definition on the bird itself is a little on the soft side, but sharp on the branch. This, together with the shutter speed, does not appear to be due to camera shake and it is a minor consideration. The image as a whole is very pleasing and the soft atmosphere is particularly good. Well done and best wishes.

Hello Derek,
A great shot of this rather secretive bird. I have seen a few up at Magee Marsh in the past and they never stayed in the open for very long. Love the red eye ring and beautiful plumage.
