Hello friends, from my autumn 2013 archives.
This Woodcock was pointed by Bobcat Celtick
my young pointing dog, at that time he was a puppy
going to his, or we can say he was, 5.5 months old.

1/4000s f/5.6 ISO1000 85mm (35mm eq:127mm).

from Audubon Society website

« As it flushes from underfoot or takes off on its
courtship flight, the American Woodcock appears
to most observers as a twittering brownish ball and
a blur of wings. Females are usually larger than males,
but on average the American Woodcock weighs 7 ounces,
grows to 11 inches long, and has an 18-inch wingspan. »

Here is a link of Bobcat Celtick's latest photos.

Merci.

Asbed

hi Asbed, the woodcock is a bit disturbed by the blurred leaf, but you made the best as possible in a situation like this, with the best DOF on the bird to take it with the best details,i like it! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Despite being obstructed by the branches, the bird looks elegant in its flight posture, Asbed. It is yet another great image you specialize in.
Thanks and regards.

Hello Asbed,
I don't know how you managed to capture the woodcock in such sharp focus, even though it is surrounded by all those branches, but you did. Great inflight shot!!
