Northern Pintail
Anas acuta

Although not as numerous as the Mallard, this graceful game bird is still a widespread and common duck, especially in the West, where about half of North America's six million are found. Winter flocks can be very large, numbering in the thousands. Seeds of aquatic plants are the Pintail's main food, but in winter it also eats small aquatic animals; when freshwater habitats freeze over, it resorts to tidal flats, where it feeds on snails and small crabs. Male Northern Pintails are aggressive, often forcing their attentions on females of other species.

I hope you like this male.
Thanks for looking at him.
BG is snow and trees.
In the workshop, you can see where he was before a child shouts: "Look mom the beautiful ducks!!!" ;-).

Taken at the Ecomuseum

Luc, A different and interesting POV on this composition. This angle shows alot of detail in the ducks plumage. You were able to keep most of the detail from some strong frontal light on your subject. Nice Capture! Sorry I am out of points...this would get a big smiley

Razorsharp detais and superb colors. I really like the "from the back"-POV! TFS!

Great composition Luc, only from its name I imagine it's tail is quite a feature, and I'm sorry we can't see more of it. He is nice and sharp and contrasts greatly to the BG of snow. (Still snowing in Canada?) And you even show the glint in his eye. Very well done.

Nice shot, interesting POV and good details.
IMO not your best shot Luc.
Well done.

Nice shot Luc,
Well composed, good details and colours. I agree with Philip, this isn't your best shot, but still a great post
Thanks for sharing

Very good shot! Beautiful and unusual POV...TFS

Very unusual, but effective POV. THe whites on the neck is just a tad overexposed, but the details on the rest of the duck make up for it.

well done

Luc, Great POV from behind, it's unique. Good colors and detail. I like it.. TFS!

You have given me a wonderful laugh today, as I have just read your note and seen your ws!
This is a good shot however, even from this perspective. It gives the viewer the ability to look in 2 different directions. Eg. the south end of a northern pintail! I am still laughing... Thank you so much Luc. Well done!
ps. does the child still live?

Nice close-up of the pintail Luc, taken from behind like you did produces a nice creation different that what we're used to. Good colors and details. Well done.

Très joli cadrage. L'oeil donne la force à l'image. Bien vu.

C'est très beau Luc!
J'aime beaucoup le regard accrocheur en coin.
Ça lui donne un air humoristique.
Belle réussite aussi au niveau de la netteté des plumes.
Merci !
