Wood Frog (albino)
Rana sylvatica

Frogs that live in cold regions can't be active year round. When the weather gets cold their bodies cool down and they can't move.
As the temperature drops, frogs burrow a little ways under forest leaves (so they won't freeze to death), and go into hibernation until the weather gets warm again.
The Wood Frogs are one of serveral species that have the amazing ability to completely freeze solid! (Peepers can do the same...except that in their case they have lots of glycerol, not glucose, in their system)

I hope that you like this really special frog photographed through glass at the Ecomuseum.

Very good shot! Details on head are marvelllous.
I've never seen this kind of frog before.I don't know what to say say about his eyes, looks very strange!
Thanks for sharing this interesting frog shot with your complete note

Wooow Luc!
What a monster you did! I'm affraid of its eyes very much!!!!
Great photo of this ugly frog!

What a fantastic post Luc.
It is totally amazing to think that animals can freeze solid and thaw out to keep living. Some of our Weta (king crickets) can do that. I wonder how many albino frogs there are.Frogs that get washed into caves and breed succussive generations there can develop a white strain.
Tres interessant mon ami!

Amazing close up and pov. Great detail, a frog I've never seen before.
Well caught Luc and thanks for sharing.

What a very nice photo Luc, especially because you shot it through glass. This is a rare species which isn't represented that much on TN. Thank you very much for sharing it with us. Like Howard I really like the diagonal touch.

Very interesting specimen Luc. It is an albino then, is it? I imagine they are quite rare too. His amazing eyes make me wonder if he would be blind.
Good up-close shot of him. Well cropped too. Amazing capture Luc - I like this very much.

Great shot Luc, well composed.
Good POV, sharpness and pose.
Well done.

Luc, this is monster from my worst nightmares! When I was young boy I often watched at my grandma home movies about alien invasion - they look like your frog! Scary eyes, weird skin. I wouldn't sleep tonight :-) Photo is excellent by the way. Great composition, textures, details and, yes, subject. Great work!

Fantastic capture and interesting post Luc, very well done.

Excellent capture Luc. It is a mesmerizing image of nature's many twists. I feel strangely sad while looking into these eyes and cannot explain why...
Good textures, color and composition, well done. Thank you.

Wonderful shot Luc,
This is the first Albino frog I've seen. He has such lovely glistening skin.
