White-Tailed Deer (male)
Odocoileus virginianus

Those animals:
* are the most widely distributed and the most numerous of all North America’s large animals.
* leave their fawn unattended for hours at a time.
* may have difficulty surviving the winter, particularly if there are too many deers competing for food or if snow is deep.
* occasionally get their antlers hopelessly entangled with those of another male during a mating season battle, resulting in the slow death of both animals.

Thanks for looking. Taken at the Ecomuseum one week ago.
Have a good weekend.

Good afternoon Luc, so this is another friend of yours from the Ecomuseum. We have deer farms in NZ for venison, which I have never tried, and the wild ones (introduced to NZ and let run wild) often have to be culled from areas they shouldn't be. They are not good in our native forests.
This chap is a fine stag, a big Bambi, and you show him well. His colours and details look so good. And hello, I can see you in his eye too. Great composition, well shown my friend.

Fabulous capture. No wonder there aren't many points yet, you just posted 15 minutes ago, LOL! Wonderful portrait of a beautiful buck. I'm not too crazy about the heavy black frame though.

Thanks for sharing this beauty!

Luc nous offre encore un beau portrait. Ce Cerf semble paisible et heureux de vivre à l'Ecomuseum sans le risque des prédateurs ;-) Merci Luc.

A beauty, Luc. Fantastic eye contact. We have white-tailed deer in California too, but I rarely see a buck with such a splendid rack of antlers. Excellent job and TFS. : )

Hi Luc,
Very good shot!
The contrast between BG and framing is wonderful. But maybe all sides could be at the same narrow size. Pose, DOF and POV very well arranged. Thanks for sharing this good looking fellow ;)

Wow, something bigger today! Call Robin Hood :-) This Ecomuseum is little paradise for nature photographers! I hope I'll visit this place some day. Photo is great - one of best deer's portraits on TN.

Hi Luc, last evening I was in the forest to be observed deers. Momentarily the deers have wedding. It´s a great time in autumn. With your photo it concerns false "Zehnender". (sorry it´s the german term)
Excellent potrait shot of this graceful animal, great lighting, details and sharpness, nice bg and contrast. Very well done. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.

Excellent shot Luc! I especially like the soft light green background it brings the deer out in great detail. Paul :)

Very nice Luc I am not strong on frames , but this one seems to realy emphecise the details you have captured so well, it make it look like he is pearing in at a window. TFS

Nice portrait of this fellow Luc. The crop and framing of the photo is very nice although I agree that the black frame is a bif too much for an image this size. The detail on the antlers and the sharpness of it's pelt is outstanding. Thanks for this photo and the note to go with it.

Hi Luc,

I just came back from your country (the westcoast) and I loved it! :)

Your shot is great. A very good portrait. Nice and sharp and very well exposed. The all important catchlight is present. :) TFS!

It's a beautiful deer you catch, Luc.
I'm not sure about the frame. I like the pose and the pov.
Well composed and good details.

Hi Luc,
An excellent portrait on this male White-tail. The colors and detail are perfect. The tight crop works ok here. Great job!

Nice ten pointer, excellent shot and well done on the portrait. Excellent work.

Très beau portrait d'un superbe spécimen, Luc. Les détails ressortent bien sur le flou de l'arrière plan. L'épais cadre noir, par contre... Smile.
