While checking wells at work, I found this well was already checked by this Snowy Owl who was using it for a vantage point for finding her next meal. The black she is stanging on is spray on insulation, I cropped out as much as I dared as it doesn't look very natural.
Snowy Owl
Bubo scandiacus
By Nora Bryan

This large white, heavily feathered owl breeds in the high arctic. In years of abundant prey, few owls may migrate. In years where prey is scarce, large numbers of males migrate south across much of Canada. Immatures may travel even further south into the States.

Look for this owl in open fields and marshes from November through March, particularly in those winters when large numbers of owls migrate from the north. You might find them on the ground, on fence posts or telephone poles as they survey the snowy terrain for a morsel.

Lemmings form the bulk of this bird's diet in the tundra. Hares, rodents, birds and even carrion constitutes much of this great white bird's diet on its southern wintering grounds.

Snowy Owls breed in the high arctic tundra. Nests are no more than shallow depressions on a mound or gravel ban, supplemented with feathers and scraps of moss. Clutch size varies with prey abundance. Three to ten white eggs are incubated for more than a month, and young are fledged 14 to 28 days after hatching.

Hi Rick.
You have shared a picture of a very nice owl. I like soft colour palette of the picture. It suits to pictured hero very well. Despite some art softness the details of the bird are great as well as the reproduction of the owl feathers. Elegant picture. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.

Howdy Rick,
U2 AB boys are keeping me hoppin' eh!

I feel the owl - because of its stature - can benefit from a more portrait like presentation. At the same time some colour saturation will help in bringing out the beauty of this bird...

Tfs and letting me play with white owl on back tar! Jay

Hi Rick,

Wonderful capture of this Snowy Owl. Of course we do not have these here. He looks so soft and, well, snowy. The colors are soft and pretty and the details are wonderful.

A beautiful picture, Rick.
The bird assesses you cooly with those slit-like eyes, standing tall and dignified.
Those markings on its white plumage look very attractive.
Since I know nothing about this species of owls, your note gives a balanced information about it to my great advantage.
Thanks and take care.

Hola Rick.- Exelente foto de este Buho. Su plumaje muy bello y con una gran nitidez. El fondo le da un realce especial. La pose muy buena tambien.
Luis52.

Oh man! You just happened upon a snowy Owl posing for you.... : P

The exposure looks good. I might have been tempted to clone out that distracting bit along the left side. I think a touch of sharpening just prior to upload would make this even better... if that were possible.
