Hi Rick,
This owl is all eyes - you must have been some sight for him. Lucky for you that he was so curious. You got a fantastic shot of him. The details are just wonderful - the face is amazing. Beautiful soft colors - looks like a painting with a wonderful model. Great first post of the year.

Hello Rick,
It must be great fun to watch the behaviour of these Owls. Very fine shot of this cute little one with its long legs! Beautiful light and fine sharp details. I like the low POV and the soft pastel background too.

Hi Rick,
kinda like the Meer Kat of the bird world then eh? I remember your previous posts of these amazing and fascinating creatures, and this one is just as good. Great eye contact, lovely natural colours and the low POV works so well - very well done!

Great capture Rick. I am still waiting for that day to get my decent owl shots. So far I had no luck whatsoever. Maybe one day!
For now, I get to enjoy shots like yours. I really like the POV and DOF. The fact that you got down to their level works very well in this picture. Great work.

Hello Rick,
This is a great portrait of a Burrowing Owl that you have taken from your archives. The sharpness, composition, lighting and low POV are all excellent.
Thanks for sharing this: I didn't know that they were found as far north as Alberta.

Gosh Rick..I am looking at your angle here...you are so agile..I only wish I could get down that low...and maybe I could with a bit of pain, but getting back up would take a helping hand..not because of weight mind you but because Neuropathy discombobulates the system of balance besides dumbing the nerve endings...so consider yourself as a prone position photographer...not a bad thing..You get into their face that way as you did here...Super shot..and my last two cents for the day as well...Peace..Tomorrow is already the 2nd day of the new year...time -passes quickly..

Hi Rick
The stare this little guy is giving you is amazing. His eyes are so big and round, I guess good for keeping a look out. A nice portrait showing off his long legs and beautiful feathers. I like your notes too.

hello Rick
great shot, good sharp details of his plumage, if yoi examinde well
his head, it gives that he is wearing eyeglasses (lunettes)
and that yellow eyes are doing excellent contrast with
the rest colours of all the image, TFS

Hallo Rick
Thanks for welcoming me to Trek Nature. I appreciate your visit and the positive critique you left me. I am sure I’ll enjoy every moment and that my knowledge about nature and everything involved will grow daily.
This owlet is looking straight at you and I am sure it is posing to. Did you pull some kind of faces that the guy got dumbstruck and could not move? It is as it is hypnotised by something in the direction where you where. Just look at the big yellow eyes, just staring your way. To me it looks as if the plumage was combed for the occasion. Every feather is in place. I like the different kinds of greenery in the background.
Thanks for sharing the photo and the interesting note.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Rick, as I am late in visiting your gallery, here's my visit of the day and I want to point out this beautiful, gorgeous, most wonderful little baby owl. This is such a distinguished portrait of this little bird! I love its long legs, the beauty in its eyes and the nice surrounding blurred, soft and creamy. What a charming owl. My book on trees by David Suzuki has a whole chapter on this endangered species. Thanks for the interesting notes too!
Francine
