[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this photo of a female Common Goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) yesterday, at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary, Alberta. She was sitting there, pretty as a picture, on a small rock. Her better half was in the water about 10 feet away. She may not have the flashy markings that he has, but she's still quite a beautiful duck in her own right. I was reading in my iBird Explorer application that female Common Goldeneyes typically return to the place where they hatched year after year. They apparently like to nest in tree cavities, like Wood Ducks. The Inglewood Bird Sanctuary has many nest boxes on trees, which are no doubt attractive to both species.

Nice image of this little female Common Golden-eye, John. That golden eye certainly stands out.
She looks quaint on the rock.

Hallo John
I agree this is a pretty sight and very relaxing to look at too. Just love the way the water forms a frame around the Goldeneye where she is sitting on a rock, the reflection in the water and the clear visibility of that almost magnetic eye. If you look at the image quickly, it actually looks as if the bird is sitting in the air. The water gives a lovely final completion of this great image. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Fantastic photo of this Goldeneye. The colours are gorgeous. Very good sharpness and a fantatsic composition with a lot of space around the duck. This one I didn't have in my collection.
