Rosa acicularis

The Alberta Wild Rose, as it is affectionately known as here in Alberta is our Provincial Floral Emblem and is also pictured on our license plates.

The Alberta Rose is a beautiful and fragrant Rose which grows in many different areas of the province.

It can grow up to 120 cm (4 feet) tall and wide. I photographed this rose down along the river. It was cloudy, the lighting was soft.

This photo is for my mom.

Janice, a colorful and delicate one.

Great and vibrant saturation; I also enjoy pov and composition.

Nicely done, Janice. I like the soft but saturated colors. I also like the compostion with the bud there, too.

P.S. It was a good idea mentioning that this is a WILD rose several times, because I've had a few shots taken down of flowers. Seems a bit odd that zoo animals are OK, but wildflowers that are cultivated are not. Perhaps because animals move around you get a bit more leeway? Maybe we need a special rule for those of us in the chinook zone where the cultivated flowers move around a lot more than zoo animals! ;-)

Hi Janice,
A very nice flower capture, good DOF also covering some of the leaves..!
Pleasant textures, excellent colours and details...
Well composed image, personally I'm a bit distracted by the pink frame but no big deal!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hola Janice.
Excellent picture,nice colour.
Saludos.

Hi Janice,
Not the newest photo of you, but I immediately liked it while seeing it in thumbnail mode. A simple, yet very pleasant image of a Rosa species which was previously unknown to me. The composition's absolutely pleasant, with great sharpness and acceptable colors - although imho with more contrast and less thick canvas the image might be even more powerful. Nevertheless, a nice try and a good photograph. Tfs.
Best regards, László
