Ribes spp.
Saxifragaceae

In Europe currants are also known as Ribes, Groseille, Bes.

There are Red, pink and white currants that belong to three European species. The Gooseberry is a related species, which also has great tasting berries.

Red Currants are native to Alberta an grow best in humid but cool regions. The Red Currant can grown up to 5 feet in height.

The berries are edible and are really tasty.

Love your note.

But it was the bright, vivid red of your photo that drew me in.

Excellent job.

Those remind me of gooseberries Janice. Mmmm I sense a pie coming on! Great lighting and detail on the berries. That one blurry leaf on the top right is my only nit.

I really love the detail on the currents -- the little white lines. Well captured.

Mmmmm. Hungry. Gotta go eat.

Mike

Hi Janice
Really nice picture. The red is very vibrant. Nice shot. Looks like someone has already helped themselves to a nice berry at the bottom.

Hello Janice,
This tiny currants looks like little tomatoes to me. very illustrative image. I think that a bit dark could be better, in spite of all nice job.
