Deadly Nightshade Berries
Solanum dulcamara

The berries on the Nightshade are not edible. They are considered somewhat poisonous but not necessarily deadly. The berries will hang on the vine all winter, but will loose their nice red color eventually. The vine can can grow 6 feet tall and 5 to 6 feet wide.

There are 7 species of the Nightshade, 2 of which grow in Alberta. The Enchanter's Nightshade grows in the very SW corner of Alberta at Waterton Lakes National Park.

Hand Held....with my new camera :)

Hi Janice,
First shot with your new camera, I've been looking forward to seeing it :-) A very nice shot, a fantastic result for 1/15 second! Did you use a tripod? Good DOF and great colours, nice detail too. I think I've seen shots of these berries in winter with ice on them, a real splash of colour in all the white and grey of winter.

Hi Janice,
Very inviting berries, nice shape with eye catching colors. Well composed and exposured. Looking forward to beautiful pictures from your new camera.

Hi Janice,
As Adrian said, a very sharp shot for 1/15 sec. Very good colors and dov. I like the way in witch berries are organized in the bunch.

Hi Janice,
A very nice isolation shot on these Nightshade Berries. The colors and detail look good against the OOF backround. Very nice!

Una estética composición Janice, con bello colorido y POV.
Encuadre con cierta simetría muy agradable.
El DOF es adecuado y aunque el fondo no ayuda totalmente, no desmerece la belleza de la presentación.
Bonita entrega.
Saludos cordiales... Ricardo

An aesthetic composition Janice, with beautiful coloring and POV.
Framing with some symmetry very pleasant.
DOF is adequate and although the bottom doesn't help totally, not be unworthy the beauty of the presentation.
Nice post.
Cordial greetings... Ricardo

Great shot, beautiful composition and background.
I tried to do a workshop but it's apparently full up today(?) and instead I would advise you to try NeatImage to reduce the background noise and maybe increase the contrast a little.

Congrats on the new camera! A good "coming out shot." I like the subject, and a good job on the composition to blur the bg. I suspect you crawled under here to get the shot, so it's hard to tell the true angle, but it "feels" like the stems should be a bit more vertical.
Your neighbor Mike.
P.S. One thing I remember from a class in high school is that white berries are almost never edible but red ones usually are. I learned that from my basketball coach, so I'm not sure how reliable it is, but it sure is easy to remember!

Bonjour Janice
J'aime beaucoup.

Hi Janice,
You did great with your new camera :) I like those colors and composition. Very nice blurred BG too. TFS,

Hi janice,
Great composition and beautiful colors. I'm impressed about your steady hand at 1/15 of sec. A smaller aperture would have given you just a little more sharpness on all the berries.
