Filmy Dome Spider
 |
|
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hi Folks , today I have this image of a common grass spider that I think is called a filmy dome spider. while photographing this little guy I got to see it make a few tries at catching prey , considering how its legs work and grasp its web , and the fact it is hanging upside down on what seems to be a mess of web , it is just amazing to see how quickly it can strike at its prey. this spiders web is not a sticky web , it is made with scaffolds to knock flies out of the air falling on to the 'sheet', the spider attacks from below reaching up through the sheet before the prey recovers from its fall. sometimes insects are seen stuck in the web , I believe these where captured by the spider and bound to the web for later eating...
thanks for having a look.
regards
