Hola Rick.
I like the way this Snipe is resting in only one leg, kind of funny. The imege well framed with the bird in left, great BG too.

I wonder why they are hunted? I had heard of doing it as a joke and back then we didn't think it was a real bird or animal..We had no idea...do hunters actually carnivore these down or what? This is the first I have heard of them being shot as a sport...interesting...and being an old man who came from a hunting family I am well aware, but the last many years I quit...I am still a carnivore but not for sport....Nice image Rick!

Rick,
Very nice capture! It looks like this guy really needed the rest. I like the composition, detail and pose of the bird. If there is anything I could add here as part of my critique is to bump the saturation and contrast up a touch. It could bring more life into this awesome shot. Very nicely done Rick.
Best Regards,
Martin

I think I need to look up why they give them these names! This ain't common, Rick!I haven't even seen one!I was just telling Rob(Arfer) the grey squirrel he's posted is not grey, but black!
K! K! I know!Here I go again!Ignorant me!
Lovely shot, and I didn't know the number of eggs in a "litter"(for the lack of a better word) was called clutch! So thanks on that count, too, Rick!
See?I'm learning!

Rick,
Believe it or not, I captured a bird of similar size, coloring, and looks, right down to the bill. I wonder if it is in the same family? I'm still trying to identify it.
Now, as far as Common Snipe goes, I love the lighting, the colors of the plumage, and it's pose. You know, I think my feet would be killing me, too. I have to wonder though, that bill, is it more of a handicap than a help? I could just see myself falling over if my nose was that long...okay, I get distracted easily...
The DOF here is terrific, and even though the image is soft, it is fitting. All the details are there, and the title made me laugh. Also, you're notes are terrific. I'm still looking for something up in Canada...

Hi Rick,
Cute title but he's only resting one foot! I have never seen a real Snipe but would recognize one from this shot. He certainly has a distinctive beak. The plummage is wonderful with good colors and details.

Hi Rick
A very fine capture of the Common Snipe. I like the way it connects to the viewer by the way it seems to looks directly on the camera. The plumage looks highlighted and detailed with the effective use of light. The perch on which it stands helps to get a very good view of the whole bird. The bird is presented with great clarity, sharpness and focus. The muted BG helps to train the whole focus on the bird.
With this PoV the bird looks as if it is standing on single leg.
Thank you for sharing this image.
Cheers

Hello Rick
The term sniper came from those able to actually bag a snipe.
You have to be a bit of a sharp shooter to get one of these speedy and evasive fliers.
Just as difficult with a camera .
Very well focused with excellent markings and details.
Well done Mr.sniper

You seem to like fence and posts! It makes great pictures and this one-legged bird sure knows how to use it. It looks like a water bird standing on a post in a field. Strange view that you captured and very nice. THank you!

Hi Rick.
I see old wood post is so attractive for various cute animals. This time you have pictured a very nice bird model. All scene is fine especially I like ear on the right side as small addition. Wonderful, so pleasant soft lighting and colours, details of the main subject is great and composition of the shot is blameless. Bravo and TFS.
Alexei.
