THE LIVINGSTONE MOUNTAIN RANGE

Is located in southwestern Alberta and forms the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains. Many mountain make up this beautiful range, that stretches over 100 km or 60 miles.

I couldn't resist taking a few photos of the mountains with such a vivid blue sky. The snow against the mountains made such a nice complementary contrast.

The foothills in the foreground slowly merge into the mountains with forests of Aspen, pine, spruce and the occasional open meadow. It's such a pretty area for a hike or drive.

It´s a wonderful view of your country; the snowy range and the hills on first plane are beautiful. Magnific image.
Take care,

Hola Janice, Buen pov. una postal maravillosa con excelentes colores una compo. estupenda. saludos

This looks nice. I like the blue sky, the white snow, and the trees. It makes for a nice balance. It looks like you picked the perfect day for this. It's nice to see you getting out there again!
Mike
P.S. Unless you're planning on getting wet first, you're camera won't freeze. The cold weather will reduce the power in your battery. And if you're in -40 the camera may even get too cold to operate (if you don't keep it in your coat), but it's just a matter of letting it warm up again. I know this because one of my favorite photographing days was the first snowfall last year in Japan. I had to take a trip back home to recharge the camera battery, but I got two nice outings in that day.

Nice crisp delivery of a familiar winter scene. I especially like the fir trees that like a family walk up the slope; two of 'em even holding hands... Good distribution of the colour bands in the compo. Well seen, well presented. Jay

Hi Janice,
Good old southern Alberta she can be so beautiful, and you have definately captured her beauty with this shot. Great colors, composition and clarity in this posting.
Rick

Hi Janice,
A wonderful winter scenery wich looks cold, but also has a feel of warmth caused by the light an the perfect blue sky. The details and colors are perfect keeping the snow in perfect conditions without making the rocks too dark.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Janice

This is a splendid sight!
I certainly wish i'd see this scenary here, too (which would be very easy and normal actually, in a normal winter), but nowadays, with temperatures of more that 15 degrees Celsius more than it was in the past years...everything is upside down. :(

Anyway, the view over these impressive mountains in exceptional and i especially like the game of light / shadows given by the crests (they look like a piano :)) - black, white, black white)
Also the POV is great, the exposure - not really easy when it comes to snow - is well managed and the composition is charming.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

So where is the 30D? Actually I don't take mine either sometimes...on long hikes, snowshowing, canoeing or to beaches with lots of salt air. Few scenes can beat a snowy scene with a bright blue sky. This is a nice composition showing the ranges of the aspen and conifers. Nice exposure with no burnout.

Well done Janice,
The lovely blue sky combined with the rugged snow covered peaks and hills is hard to beat.
Great detail, POV, contrast, and color..
Beautiful :)
Have a great week!

Hello Janice,
you choose your POV very well to get a very nice view of the Rockies and the foothills. Lovely winterscene with the light dusting of the snow. Very well composed, the division of the space is very well done. The gorgoues Alberta blue Sky looks wonderful.

Hi Janice,
What a beautiful rugged landscape.I like how the bare trees int he foreground are a contrast to the green pines at back.A lovely winter scene, clean air and a crisp cold emotion. The deep blue sky a lovely backdrop to the snow capped mountains.Well done.

Beautiful mountain photo Janice with perfect exposure. It must be gorgeously colorful in fall. I wish there was more of the trees and less of the sky.
Best wishes,

Ricardo

A dream place depicted from a wonderful (and enviable) point of view Janice.
Beautiful composition starting from the different levels of the scene with contrasting colors of the forest in forefront, the snowy declines, the imposing summits and that blue sky so deep captured with a pleasant sharpness.
Excellent post... thank you for sharing.
My best greetings... Ricardo

Hello Janice, this is a nice shot. I like the composition, perhaps there is a little too much contrast? Alberta has some wonderful country, I went there about 17 years ago...wish I had a camera then! Nice work.

Hello Janice,
I like this landscape as it is rugged and wild!
I notice there isn't that much snow, but sufficient to set the winter mood...
Well composed image, great clarity in colours and fine details!
Greetings,
Pablo -

The firmness of the rocks and the lightness of the trees, as a fur on the snow. Very fine.
Wishes, Diana
