|Mr. Shannon's recent posting of a milk thistle reminded me of this particular image I got a few years back with my little Olympus. This is a hummingbird moth, and quite frankly I don't know what it was doing up here at 1500 metres elevation near an alpine lake we had hiked to, but there he was, quite interested in this thistle.|
I believe this is the only time I've ever actually seen a hummingbird moth in the area, so I'm quite thankful to have been able to have captured this image for posterity.
