The Melt is On

|This is an illustrative photo of a receding snowpack. Much of the area still was under a few feet of snow, but with the warm weather the snowpack was melting quickly; creating a network of watery tendrils coming together into larger streams as they make their way down the mountain.|
Great care must be taken while travelling over the firm snowpack during these times as these streams hollow out the snowpack underneath the surface, making the remaining snowpack above weak and easy to break through into the icy water below.
Here we see one of the main creeks that has melted away the snowpack above.

Fine post. Amazing the time of year this is taken...well I know for a fact this type of condition is not rare in some mountain areas... and I have also fallen in. Came out with wet socks...
