Fallen sentinel

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I can only imagine that this was once a lovely mature tree with a beautiful view in all directions. What is now left is a small shadow of it's former self. The surrounding sedimentary rocks to me seemed to add to the starkness and desolation of the scene. No lush greenery sprouting all around it as is the case with so many other snags.
This snag reminded me of a sentinel watching over and standing guard. Perhaps many birds once perched upon it's branches; keeping a close eye out for a potential meal.
Today we were on our way to summit Pyramid Peak, which you can see top center in the distance. The "angry snag" shot was taken at the base of Pyramid Peak to it's left. Britton Lakes are well beyond Pyramid Peak and to the left. |

Hi Tim. Once again a very nice landscape from you. showing good detail in the old trees and rocks. with the greens of the lush mountain ahead. you can still see the lone tree growing. nice colours in the blue sky and white clouds. well done TFS. good notes too
Nick..
have a good week to come.
Way cool Tim. Your blend of textures and patterns is exceptional. The sharpness of focus just adds more to the prior. The picture almost gives the place a desolate look, but I know better. You were there and you smelled and felt and sensed other things that gave it life, which is more than likely a part of your life's blood...It's in your veins, the wilderness is...
Looks like a rather bleak spot for a tree to have taken root there in the first place... but life is tenacious. This scen already feels like you are just about on top of the world... but you still had more peaks to climb. Nice sharpness and natural color. I like a photo with a story to tell.
