Hi Kevin
WOW! You really did pull out an amazing series of shots that day! My hat's off to you, my friend!
I personally love this one and i like it better than the first one because of 3 reasons:
- the pose of this jay here is magnificent and it seems like it is flying backwards :) It's a very difficult pose to catch i'm sure and i just love the way you froze it like that! Brilliant!
- the composition is also great, with plenty of space in front of the bird and with its head and body positioned at exactly 1/3 of the frame. Very correct and aestetic!
- and a personal element - no peanut. Even though i know that was the reason you were able to catch this lovely bird in so many picutres, i always like the ones it's not visible in better. It's nice to catch a bird with something in tis beak - feeding - but the peanut is a rather artificial element and i find it more natural and beautiful withought. That's why i like this one better (although i think the other one is very very beautiful, too...as i said).
All these aside, i must once again ramark the flawless sharpness in the details here and the perfect DOF used.
Absolutely magnificent!
BRAVO and TFS
Horia
Hello Kevin, this is a fab shot! You caught the moment beautifully, so pin sharp on the Blue Jay. The details on the bird are outstanding, it is certainly up there with the best. The background is nicely blurred. Light, colours and compositon excellent.

Hi Kevin,
absolutely stunning shot! One of the best (if not THE best) photos of a Blue Jay i've seen here on TN. Composition is excellent, the timing for this interesting pose very well done and the sharp, clear detail - amazing. Very well done, one for my favourites.

This one is incredible ! Congratulations, Kevin !
Dear Kevin
This image on the thumbnail caught my eye immediately. To be honest, blue is my favourite colour and this blue bird just stands out so well. This is a stunning capture of the Blue Jay in flight. Pardon me for saying so, but it looks like somebody gave this bird a slap on the back and he is desperately trying to fly away, or on the other hand maybe some strong wind is blowing from behind if I look at the back feathers standing in the air. All the detail on the photo is good. I especially like the different shades of blue with black stripes in between. The blurred background adds to a perfect posting. Thanks for sharing. My compliments to the photographer. This one goes to my favourites.
Kind regards
Aaltjie

It's another amzing shot, brilliant sharpness at 1/4000. How did you get that focus. Amazing DOF for 5.6 too. Coulour is brilliant of course and the background just makes everything stand out really well.

Wonderful "braking" pose Kevin, excellent inflight capture. I see the lens you're using is very fast at F/2.8, but only 105mm..You must be getting very close?
The sharpness, detail, color, DOF, POV, BG, and exposure are simply outstanding :)

Another great action shot, Kevin!
Superb capture great in every respect with the added bonus of no evidence of baiting (peanut). There are no negative aspects to mention and for me the best is the vertical position and the breaking action of the tail.
Well done again, Kevin, and thanks,

WOW!! MARVELLOUS!!
What a stunning magnificent shot!! If capturing a beautiful bird like this one is a great achievement, to capture it in such a pose in full movement with such perfection is a perfect deed.
Congratulations, my friend!
I understand you very well if you've got some trouble with English. I have the same problem. For me it's rather difficult to express my feelings and thoughts with a language that I don't master and I have a poor vocabulary. I just hope nobody will feel upset with my comments. I wish not to be upsetting, though I'm sure that someone will put his hands on his head reading my fails. I beg pardon for that.
I'm wishing to see your next.
Cheers

Hi Kevin, I am so happy to see that photo, it is great and it is exactly what I would like to be able to do! Congratulation, it's not easy to capture this kind of movement. I have many photos of blue jays with funny movements in flight but they're kind of blurred. They fly like crazy, sometimes like a rocket, they're so fun to watch.
Your photo is sharp, lightning is great, the movement of the bird is fantastic.
Anyway, happy that I found you, congratulation once more for your work. Thank you,
Francine

Hi Kevin,

Hello Kevin,
What a brilliant capture of this Jay in a lovely pose. Very well-timed and details are very clear and colours beautiful. Excellent contrasting background too. I expect you've captured all the dragonflies now so it's time for the birds - and they're equally fantastic!
