This is the two-hundredth photo that I post on TN.
It is among first photos which I took at Ecomuseum and I kept it in reserve for this occasion.
I dedicate it to all my cyber-friends.
I write these words with the ink of his eyes...

Artic Fox: a cute animal II
(Alopex lagopus)

His name is Tipper. He is of the same colour as Snowy but he could eat him.
I photographed him last January at Ecomuseum in the West of the Island of Montreal.
He is an adorable animal.

Length: Up to 3 ft.
Height: Up to 12 in.
Weight: 5-11 lb.
Gestation: 50-63 days

Physical Characteristics: The arctic fox goes through two color phases: white and blue. During the winter the arctic fox is white with black at the tip of its tail; it's a grayish brown in the summer. The blue Arctic fox is a dark blue during the winter; in the summer it is brown. The fox has short ears and long fur, which helps preserve body heat. Although they have small ears they have excellent hearing. Their feet are big and hairy (which helps them to move quickly across the snow). These small creatures can jump 2 ft!
Habitat / Daily life / Hunting and Feeding: The arctic fox lives in polar regions. They live in small groups made up of one adult male and the rest females and young. The fox is territorial and its territories are usually 2100-18000 acres long. Territories are established by the amount of food available. Arctic foxes are carnivores and eat marine animals, lemmings, rodents, birds and carrion. Sometimes the Arctic fox will follow polar bears and feed on the leftovers.
Reproduction and Young: After a period of 50-63 days up to 25 pups are born. Only about half generally survive. Breeding is once a year in late winter. The father of the family stays and guards the den or he goes out hunting to bring back food to the young.
Status: The arctic fox is suffering from rabies as well as other fox species. Hunters trap arctic foxes, but the arctic fox is still hanging in there.

I hope you like Tipper as much as me.

Very Well Done !

Un cadrage audacieux, c'est original et bien pensé, l'exposition est parfaitement gérée

What a close crop. Very dramatic !! It is a beautifull shot. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, and in this case, that totally rings true. He looks like he is thinking about better times.

Well done on capturing that mood.

Congratulations on your 200th, my friend. Gorgeous photo of a gorgeous animal. Good choice. Amazing close-up of this arctic fox. You can see every hair, even the brown curly ones coming out of the corner of his beautiful eyes in perfect symmetry. You can even see the blood vessels in his eyes. He looks rather wistful. Just stunning. Thank you for all your wonderful postings, and the inspiration you have given to many of us. : )

Beautiful capture Luc, what ssplendid animals they are. I love the nose, is perfect and very well integrated in the super white picture. How lucky you are with the Ecomuseum. Well done.

Luc this is fantastic, posting photo 200 had to be special and special it is. He looks as if he had gorged himself off a polar bear kill. Sharp details and as someone said, the white is just right. Thanks for posting it. Well done and well chosen.

This one, Luc, evokes a flurry of feelings that cannot be described. He is magnificent, as is the capture!
Congratulations on 200.
Thank you...

Really lovely portrait with mysterious eyes. I suppose it was a crop of a slightly wider shot. Nice work and good note
