Hello dear friends, here is a in-flight shot of the Ring-billed Gull,
the focus on the bird and sharpness are not at 100% but again
it is a image that i love the reason why i post it, if you already
noticed these birds that sometimes are hateful,
in their flights they are sometimes graceful

from the Seattle Aubudon Society website :

« A medium-sized, white-headed gull, the Ring-billed Gull
appears similar to the Herring and California Gulls, but is smaller,
with a shorter bill that has a broad, black ring around it.
The Ring-billed Gull is slightly larger and bulkier than the Mew Gull.
The white body and tail, slate-gray back and wings, and black
wingtips with large, white spots (windows), typical of most gulls,
are all present on the Ring-billed Gull. The juvenile is mottled
brown mixed with adult plumage characteristics. It has pink legs
and a pink bill with a dark tip. As the bird matures, the legs
turn yellow, and the bill becomes yellow with a black ring.
The adult's eye is also yellow. The adult in non-breeding
plumage has brown streaking on its head. The Ring-billed Gull
takes three years to reach maturity.

Like most gulls, Ring-billed Gulls are gregarious, adaptable,
and opportunistic. They do much of their feeding on land,
but also forage while wading, swimming, or flying. These gulls spend
a considerable amount of time scavenging and often steal food
from other birds. They congregate at sewage ponds and
in agricultural fields, where they follow plows,
picking up insects and small rodents. »

Another wonderful bird on the wing. Well composed, nicely lit, and good detail Ranger. And thanks for the very informative notes... TFS

You must have been shooting with a high ISO eh Asbed? This is quite the close in flying for yyou. I can see you have no arthritis problems..looking up for me causes pain..of course now days even sitting here causes pain:-0
A fine image and well noted. Good and pleasing colours...Very nice addition!

the gull looks me strange for a ring billed gull. Is ti maybe a Smithsonian gull (Larus smithsonianus)?

Hello Asbed,
A fine capture of a juvenile Ring-billed Gull struggling to gain height as it tries to get away from the photographer. The lighting is excllent her as is the composition and the sharpness is good, though the BG a little noisy.
TFS this fine action shot,

Hi Asbed,

Wow, I am impressed! A great in-flight of this young gull. You've frozen him in a wonderful position. The face, wings, plummage, tail feathers and legs are all perfectly clear with fine details and nice black and white. I love the raised wing and the expression on his face. The only thing that could use improvement is the noise in the sky. A great action shot and a wonderful composition.

hi asbed,

nice inflight shot of these wonderful Gull.

well composed.

Hello Asbed, a perfectly focused and composed shot of this Ring-billed gull in flight with nice details and framing.
TFS and Greetings from Cyprus,

Ciao Asbed,

Hello Asbed,
Nice inflight of this gull, it looks as if he is in a hard banking situation. This is fun Asbed to try and catch things in flight, yes.

Hi Asbed.
Fantastic in-flight picture. Great timing, superb pictured pose of the bird, wonderful a bit cloudy sky and exposure of the image at whole. Lights and colours are fine too. Well done and TFS.

Hi Asbed,

Capturing a bird in flight is difficult, the point of view is showing the details and colors of the gull. The picture is clear and sharp. THe subject is well frame. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Asbed,
Bien cordialement

Oh wow! You did really well on this one Asbed! The action is frozen and the bird really sharp!! I like the light. It isn't always easy to get a correct exposure against the sky. Howard's WS really cleaned up the noise. I like the placement of the subject in the frame. Nice work. I am trying to get caught up after being out of town... but I am all out of green smilies!

TFS : ) : ) : )
