Done on the shore of Lake Ontario - Toronto

The American Mink, Neovison vison, is a North American member of the Mustelidae family found in Alaska, Canada and most of the United States.

Mink are semi aquatic predators able to hunt both aquatic and terrestrial prey. They can dive under water like an otter to capture fish, crayfish, and frogs. They can also capture terrestrial prey like birds, snakes, mice, voles, and rabbits. Mink are generalist predators focusing on whatever prey is most available and easily captured. These animals are mainly active at night and do not hibernate. Their predators include coyotes, Great Horned Owl, and wolves. They are also trapped for their fur. Their numbers have been reduced due to loss of habitat, the effects of pollution on their aquatic food supply, and the mixing of domestic mink genes into the wild mink gene pool

Hi Mario,
first let me say what an excellent capture this one is.What I like about it is the visual impact that it has and the fish in the mink's mouth adds so much interest to the composition. The colour is accurate and not over done and the little animal's face and the fish's are both sharp and clear giving us all a well detailed shot to enjoy. Thanks Mario this is a first rate photo you share with us today. Hi Mario!

You present us a beautiful picture of that Mink. This is pure wildlife photography. I like the fact that the Mink has its capture between the teeth very much. This really adds to the value of the picture. Moreover, the technical aspects are all perfect.

Kind regards

Markus

Hallo Mario
Great close capture of this cute (but I am sure dangerous ) little animal in a nice swimming pose. I like the big black eye and the cute pink snout which show well on your image. I found your notes rather intereseting to learn what these Minks eat. The fish as well as the ripples of the water displays well on this photo. Lovely presentation. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Mario
This is such a rare picture, it's the first time I see a mink swimming with a fish in its mouth.
Wonderful sharpness and details, great colors.

Beatiful shot Mario. You can make out a lot of detail in the fish it's such a clear shot. Very nice colours as well. Trevor

Hi Mario
