Description: Meadowhawk with snow white face, black abdomonal markings, and black legs. Male: Eyes red-brown over pale-greenish to grayish; face white; Thorax brown, may look paler on sides than front with faint indication of ventrolateral triangles on S4-8, most of lower s9 is black. Appendages reddish. Female, eyes reddish brown over pale greenish; face pale yellowhish. Thorax brown in front, lighter brown on sides with pale yellowish areas below. Some females become red as in other meadowhawks but rarely seen in this species.

Habitat Shallow marshes, bogs, and fens that may or may not dry up each summer; also similar habitats at edges of lakes. Often most commom meadowhawk in cold, boggy wetlands, and associated with forest over most of its range.

Distribution: In North America from coast to coast, south to Kentucky, Virginia and Mayland. In mountains in southern part of its range.

Wow what a beautiful image of this immature Cherry-faced Meadowhawk Dragonfly, good point of view that shows this guy off well, splendid sharpness with good depth of field, lovely lighting with superb natural colours, nice to see you using a tripod, I know they can be a pain in the Butt but i always use one wherever i can, great work here Denis and well done,
