Hello friends, today once again
the Great Gray Owl gives me
(us) an hunting spectacle !

This great Gray Owl perched high on a
tree branch I was placed depending by
the flight he would take. Not having
zoomed lens I was placed around 15 meters
from it and 10 meters behind me they where
other photographers with their zoomed lenses,
I was near trees with the trees so not
obstructing the other photographers.

When this Owl took his flight, it came
directly on my direction and took its
hunting in-flight poses, I was so lucky,
the first 4 photos I shot the lens fully
zoomed at 50mm, but when I saw it is coming
near me at few meters of me, telling myself
I will be too close to him so I zoom out a little
bit and from shot #5 to shot #16 I was at 40mm
focal length. This photo is shot #5 of the sequence.

But again here I decide to also give
to this photo an 60% of cropping to have
the bird closer and bigger. After this action
that gives me this Owl the other photographers
told me « you was lucky the Owl it came to give
his spectacle just in front of you », and the
mouses that he was hunting was wild ones that
are in tunnels under the snow. unfortunately the
light was not at the rendez-vous.

Hello Asbed,
I agree with Ron, this is your best one so far and you have already shown us great pictures. Here I especially like the wide opened wing Position, while the view goes concentrated down to earth. A really wonderful hunting photo.
Best wishes,

A very stylish landing Asbed. I love the white blotches on the trees the way they match the white spots on the owl. Framing is good and everything else looks good. The trees really make for a good background in this. A super great shot! Trevor
