Hello friends, for more info about this
photo read my previous photo's notes.

In my previous photo my focal length
was at 40mm (35mm eq:60mm), on this
photo here my focal length it is
even wider, as much close this Owl
came to hunt in front of me so that
on this photo I see I zoom out a
little bit more, I remember having
zoom out one time (previous photo)
but in the action don't remember
that I have zoom out even more.

I have also to mention that to this
photo I give an 50% of cropping to
have the bird closer and bigger.

I still have +/- 10 other photos of this
sequence of the Great Gray Owl hunting.

1/1600s f/7.1 ISO1000
35mm (35mm eq:52mm)

The title of « The silent hunting »
I took from an old book of Nature
photography I have read in a
library of my city (island) of Laval.
It is a book and photos of European
birds and mammals shot in 1960s.

« La Chasse Silencieuse »
de Jaroslav Holecek.

Birds and wild animals photography in
the Nature, it is an silent hunting.

Here is the link of that book

Hi Asbed,

A fine action shot with very good detail and colours. Love the expression on the face of the owl, certainly focused on its prey. Good light management with the snow and trees.

Hi Asbed,
Beautiful pic with just the right exposure and shutter speed, and pleasant composition + crop. Even in difficult light conditions, but a top class image. Mostly with the polypores in the middle background. :-D I also have the book "Silent Hunting" at home (in Hungary).
Best regards, László
