|American Robin, is a migratory songbird of the thrush family. The American Robin is widely distributed throughout North America, wintering from southern Canada to central Mexico and along the Pacific Coast. It is the state bird of Connecticut, Michigan, and Wisconsin. According to some sources, the American Robin ranks behind only the Red-winged Blackbird (and just ahead of the introduced European Starling) as the most abundant, extant land bird in North America. |
The American Robin is active mostly during the day and assembles in large flocks at night. Its diet consists of invertebrates (such as beetle grubs, earthworms, and caterpillars), fruits and berries. It is one of the earliest bird species to lay eggs, beginning to breed shortly after returning to its summer range from its winter range.
The adult robin is preyed upon by hawks, cats and larger snakes, but when feeding in flocks, it can be vigilant and watch other birds for reactions to predators.
I took this picture in front of the my house with a zoom lens with no IS and no tripod. I would like you to excuse my soft focus of the bird. Thank for viewing.

Hello there, Anna, my Canadian TN friend,
I have, in my library, an image almost IDENTICAL to the one you have just posted.
Love to hear the male singing in my backyard.
Your image is 10/10.
Congratulations from Mario in Calgary.
Beautiful colour on feathers.Like white and grayish tone.Well captured this American Robin.Nice light on grasses too.Looks beautiful.
Thanks for sharing,
Regards and have a nice time,
L'éclairage me paraît insuffisant, principalement sur le dos du sujet qui est tout de même relativement bien mis en valeur.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
