[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I believe he's exfoliating the tree bark. He isn't even shy of tree growths like this one. I had to crop this a lot. This day was unusual, as the bird didn't frighten of me being to near. It was a warm wind and sunny near a lake shore.

note: cropped and focused a bit

It is the state bird of Maine and Massachusetts.
The song of the Black-capped Chickadee is one of the most complex vocalizations of all animals, acting as a contact call, an alarm call, to identify an individual, or to indicate recognition of a particular flock.
They may cache food in hundreds of different sites, recalling those locations and retrieving food up to 28 days later.
A group of chickadees are collectively known as a "banditry" and a "dissimulation" of chickadees.

Hello Trevor-Although you have Cropped a lot(According to your NOTE),but still the quality of picture of this Black-Capped Chickadee is really good.I like its active moment.Details on plumage is good and Tree looks natural coloured.Catching-light on eye made it attractive. Thanks for sharing.Regards and have a nice time-Srikumar

Hello Trevor!
A pleasant diagonal composition showing this curious little bird. Very good sharpness and a perfect dot of fire in the visible eye. You chose a very good POV and DOF is also very good. Only a wee bit of OE on bird's belly but its not at all distracting. Thanks for sharing this fine shot,
Best Regards,
AKBAR
