Hello friends, here is a new photo taken few
days ago of the elusive Northern Saw-whet Owl.

1/400s f/5.6 ISO3200 85mm (35mm eq:127mm).

A tiny owl with a catlike face, oversized head,
and bright yellow eyes, the Northern Saw-whet Owl
is practically bursting with attitude. Where mice and
other small mammals are concerned this fierce,
silent owl is anything but cute.

One of the most common owls in forests across
northern North America (and across the U.S. in winter),
saw-whets are highly nocturnal and seldom seen.
Their high-pitched too-too-too call is a common
evening sound in evergreen mountain forests
from January through May.

Hello Asbed,
A splendid specie. Owls are extremely shy in my region, no chances to take a good shoot. Excellent focus and clarity.

Hello Asbed
Fantastic capture of this hard to find Saw-whet owl. It's on my list of owls to photograph. A challenging shot since the sun is behind the owl. Excellent detail, colour and notes.

Hello Asbed,
You were very fortunate to capture such a nice image of this Saw-whet Owl. Photographed in it's natural surroundings and displaying wonderful detail and beautiful colors. Great facial features showing those big eyes with a tad bit of catchlight. Posed in an attractive manner and in a nice relaxed position.
