Pygmy Gentian
Gentiana prostrata
The Pygmy Gentian is very tiny. The blooms are 4 to 5 mm wide and up to 10 mm tall. I climbed a scree slope in the mountains (approx 8000 feet) to find these tiny beauties. They are so tiny they could be easily missed.
Flowers open only in bright sunshine and quickly close if shaded.
