Red Fox Series (eighteenth)

Red Foxes (Lucy with a Kid after sunrise)
Vulpes vulpes

* Info on Red Fox *

Spring brings back human activities on Notre-Dame Island of Montreal. Roller-skaters, cyclists, pedestrians, some with their dog.
Next June 23-24-25, there will be the Grand Prix of Canada (Formule 1 racing). In their publicity on their official site we can read: Nothing compares to be there!

Between last Thursday and Friday morning Lucy and kids left their den. I was there Friday morning between 5:45 and 10:00 am. I did not saw the kids but I saw Lucy unearthing and transporting food. By twice I tried to follow her, but she has four legs and me only two and she knows the place better that me...
I knew that that would happen because the employees of maintenance of the track of race had begun their work (please look at the WS).
Next week, I will try to find the new den, but I know that I will have a kind of mourning to live during the days to come. I lived unforgettable moments for one month and I am glad to have shared some of them with you.
Some times the human ones disappoint me. If I were a journalist I could write an interesting paper about some wild animals, a Nature's lover and Formule 1 Circus, but I am only a photographer...

(Each year, several woodchucks die under the wheels of the powerful racing cars and that made laugh the commentators of the race. I do not know how I would react if I learned that a fox underwent the same fate.)

Thank you for looking. Have a good week my friends!

Hi Luc
Tragic! I saw this coming since the first moment you mentioned the F1. Lucy's instincts must be warning her that is why she moved the den. The question is just, "Did she move away far enough?" The problem is two fold though. A fox of Lucy's size would probably be big enough to kill or badly injure a F1 driver should he strike her a 300+ km/h. I hope all ends well for her and the kids though.
What a lovely pose by Lucy and the young one. I especially like how he sticks out his little tongue. The composition, colours, and details are great. You once mentioned some light you carried along and since the flash did not fire I assume it must have been your source of light for this shot so it seems like you did some excellent white balance control in order to maintain the natural colours.
Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hello Luc, I have not been following your series on this red fox but looking at your WS I am really surprised to see just how close the den was to the road. I hope Lucy and her young will be ok during this time and we have a happy ending. As for the picture it sure is a touching scene with good detail and saturated colour. Well done.

Kia ora Luc, another beautiful image, each one is beautiful because of the love you have within you for these friends of yours.
The Kid has grown, and Lucy is so protective and it is good she has moved her babes to a safer (we hope) place. This pose is gorgeous, she's a wonderful mama.
Thanks my friend,
Janice

Again, Luc, you captured the essence of these beautiful creatures who share this planet with us. A tragic shame that some people forget that fact.
You "read" them so well because you read them with your heart, not just with your eyes. Here Lucy is assuming the quintessential pose of protectiveness, of a mother shielding her young from the dangers of the world. It is a magnificent image. Merci.
I hope with all my heart that Lucy and her pups stay safe. That's all I can say.

Hi Luc, your portfolio of foxes is amazing.
A great work above this!!

Salut Luc!

Michel

Hi Luc, lovely shot of a fox and its cub. I love the way she looks so protective of her young. It's a great image. I think I'll have to check out this series of yours in more detail, I want to know the story behind this family. TFS :)

C'est époustouflant, une très belle photo.
