[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Milk River in S.E. Alberta was formed from the melting of the glaciers 10-50 thousand years ago. The water from the glaciers raged throught the Milk River Basin creating beautiful sandstone cliff, outcrops, and interesting formations in the rock, as shown here in the photo.

This photo was taken up a valley away from the actual river approximately 1/2 km. This is a good indication of how high and wide the river use to be.

The photo was taken hand held and in the shade which gives the rock an interesting colour.

Quite fascinating Janice, I would have guessed it was coral!

Very nice shot! I love the textures and the soft colors. The only thing I don't like about the shot is the little weed sticking up near the bottom right corner. It could pretty easily be edited out. Other than that, great photo!

Good Point of View.
Soft colors and good details for this original shot.
Andrea

Hi Janice,
What an intersting photo and note. I've never seen this kind of beauty before. The shapes and patterns are just amazing.I love the light brown color of the rock. Normally I would recommend to clone out the piece of grass, but this time it actually gives an idea of size. Without it you never knew if it was this big.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Janice,
Wow, amazing formation, it looks almost alien (I probably watch too much Star Trek :-)) Nuce textures and colours you've captured and interesting note, good post.

Adrian

Hi Janice, beautiful rock formation. It looks like it has a really smooth finish. Nature really does create some beautiful shapes. Well seen and TFS.

Nice detail of the rock outcrop. Always nice to see more of geology :-). Not much to comment except that it is a nicely captured detail of a rock formation.

Best, Fredrik

Hi Janice,
this filigree is something to behold and I for one ,am amazed that such a thing even exists. The focus is the only problem here in this shot but otherwise it is a very good photo none the less and I'm happy you shared it. Bob
