The papilio thoas is found from south Texas to Brazil,maily in mid-elevation tropical forest and lowland edges.The caterpillar look like bird droppings and rest exposed on leaves;it feeds on plant in the citrus and piperaca family as well as on prickly ash and hop tree.
The butterfly feeds on flower nectar,mainly lantana,cesalpina and bougainvilla.

I choose this picture for its different and unusual presentation,which shows good detail of the head and its nectar tube.

All you have to do now is to enjoy it.
