Rather than upload another small furry animal picture I thought I would upload a landscape.

This photo was taken at Maligne Lake which is located not far from Jasper in Alberta.

Parks Canada has this to say about the lake:
"Maligne Lake is the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies. Ringed by snow-and-ice-capped mountains, the 22 km long lake stretches past serene Spirit Island right to the melt-water channels of Coronet Glacier. An open forest of lodgepole pine and spruce, home of moose, caribou and Harlequin Ducks and many other types of wildlife surround visitors at the north end of the lake. Hiking and, in winter, cross-country skiing trails abound making this a popular retreat at all times of the year.

Maligne Lake was originally known as "Chaba Imne" or Beaver Lake by the native tribes who lived near Jasper. In 1907 Mary Schaeffer, a wealthy Quaker from Philadelphia, learned of the mysterious lake. Following a map obtained from Samson Beaver, a Stoney tribesman, Mary found the lake and later wrote about her adventures, making the area a popular tourist attraction in years to follow."

I had a beautiful day there and even saw a black bear with 2 cubs not far from the lake

Quelle douceur dans ce paysage. Merci beaucoup. Par contre, je n'aurai pas mis les arbres au centre. Mais ça c'est une question de goût.

Great landscape shot! It is always nice to see another person who loves the landscapes like I do. Great job on lighting and color. I also love how you framed this picture and how you captured the reflections. TFS!

What a lovely spot Karan. I want to go there, camera in hand! We need more landscape photographers on TN. A lot of them come and go, but it seems there is only a small core group that sticks around. Niek is gone for a month and I will be gone for a couple weeks now and more in the fall. I hope people hang in there. I have learned so much! I like your picture a lot. This kind of landscape scene can always benefit from a graduated neutral density filter to even out the exposure in the field. Thanks for sharing. I'm ready to go!

what a wonderful landscape. The quality and sharpness are wonderful and you really make me wonderf what is on the other side of that clump of trees on the crop of land, and as Evelyn states, we need more landscapers on TN... I'm only a part-time landcaper, sthough that is where my heart lies.

wonderful and TFS

Hi Karan,
This is really beautiful. Looks like a fantastic place and you made a wonderful photograph of it. I like the color of the water, the tall trees on the semi island, framed by the montains... Really gives me the desire to visit this place.

Hello Karan, splendid landscape with a good composition and great lighting, very good job, Didier.

Beautifully captured. The fist thing I look at is the small stand of trees then the rocks and water then the mountains.

Hi Karan, this is trully a wonderful landscape, well done!!!

Bonjour Karan,

Claudine

Hi Karan

Thhis is a wonderful shot and takes me back a few years to when I was 19 years old and backpacking through the Rockies. The landscape is awesome and your picture takes my breath away. My Uncle (John Dickenson)ran the camera stores, Lens and Shutter then but that was all a long time ago. Sold me my first camera a Canon AE1.

You have a sympathy with the landscape that not many photographers find. Keep up the good work.

Karen, Waht a wonderful photograph. I particualry like the composition and rich color. If you don't have one you might consider a polarizing filter with sky'slike this. Mike

This is such a beautiful place, I haven't yet seen a bad photo of it! Your colors and focus are perfect, I love the low POV right down to the water. The sky is just a touch too bright for me, but very wonderful capture! Well done.

This is a really splendid shot of a beautiful landscape! The composition and POV are great, colors are brilliant and warm and the details are sharp! Very good use of DOF! Lake Maligne is one of the places I wish to visit one day! Congratulations for this superb shot and TFS!

Greetings,
Eddie

Hi!
Great composition there! Its just like you would find in a outdoors magazine! It looks very peaceful and majestetic at the same time!
The mountains in the background make a great backdrop! I would maybe try an higher aperture than 2.8 on such a landscape, but it works no matter!

TFS

This has excellant composition and is an amzing shot, however a filter of some sort (polariser) would have darkened the sky to really make this an amazing image. I have taken photos that also now I wished I had a polariser filter but they are expensive.

Simon

Hello Karan,
I was so sure I've had my say on this fine image, probably because I have seen it so often...
Big was my surprise when seeing how wrong I was!
A beautiful postcard with wild rugged mountains framing calm inviting lake...
A lovely composition with a wonderful feeling of depth!
Greetings,
Pablo -
