Nature is a great sculptor, Janice. This one in your country is a very interesting sample in terms of shape and size. Hopefully it does not topple over for another 1000 years.
Very good image with nice POV and depth of view.
And be careful about rattlesnakes.
Hi Janice! Nice to see some shots of your canoeing trip (actually, now that I think of it, I did notice a critter and/or a flower. This is a special place, and you've done a good job capturing it.
Mike
P.S. I didn't list mine in Milk River, but in "Writing on Stone."
Very lovely photo, Janice. These rock formations really are spectacular. I like the POV, composition and colors a lot. However...to be perfectly honest...i would really love a picture of the rattlesnake you said you dodged, too :)
Anyway, a big Bravo and TFS

Hi Janice,
Amazing rock formation and an interesting note, nothing lasts forever. I agree with Ram, nature is a great sculptor. A lovely shot, great framing/composition and exposure, nice POV to frame the Hoodoo aginst the other rocks and the sky. I like the name Hoodoo, it seems to fit. Great post.
Cheers,
Adrian

What an interesting looking rock, Janice.
I have just come back from New Mexico, where there are many amazing rock formations, so I am very much into rocks right now.
Great composition, sharp details, and excellent exposure.

Hi Janice, very interesting structures and a good note. I'm glad you missed the rattlesnake too!
I think you may be able to do more with the composition here. AT the moment there is alot of overlap between the structures and it's hard to differentiate them as individual items. Also the lighting is a little harsh.
Well done.

If I had taken this photo it would appear flat and boring. You have captured a sense of depth and substance that is difficult to achieve(for me anyways). Nice job.

Janice,
This "Pillar" or HOODOO, if you notice its shadow,
will register TIME just as a " Sun Dial " does.
You did a lovely job regitering this unique piece.
The contrast of the Alberta blue sky against the green
on the ground & the pale Sandstone tint match
PERFECTLY.

Yup, the way of the dinosaurs! Great to see these landmarks!
They are better than the ones by Drumheller which have been overrun but rugrats, tourists, and hoodoo-hoodlums. Tfs, Jay

Hi Janice,
looking through your material I land on this picture this time. This is an interesting formation I have seen these in the badlands and near Banff and now in your Milk River photo. When these do fall down I hope it is a natural demise as some of the ones I have seen have been willfully wrecked by self centered people who just hate for anyone else to see such things. You have an interesting POV on these as well as great colour and focus and what a radioactive blue sky I wish we could have right now(I want to get some more fox photos in good light)so thanks for sharing. Hello Janice,
very special features of these hoodoo. i like its uniqueness and the sharpness shown. Great details and wonderful colours, especially the blue sky that give an stunning view.
The angle of light is simply perfect and you exploit it very well.

Dear Janice
A great scene of natural wonder!
There used to be a similar, sandstone 'sculpture' in South West Africa (now Namibia) called God's finger of which I have a 35 mm slide ex 1982 (badly damaged due to heat and dry air). Quite a relic, because since then God's Finger has collapsed...
So hang on to your photo for the day when your subject has collapsed...
Your portfolio is very interesting and also a history of TrekNature members.
Alberta is really a great place, and you show us how beautiful and interesting it is.
Have a nice day,
Ingrid
