[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
About a half a million years ago volcanos in this area erupted spewing lava throughout the valleys and exhisting river beds. The lava built up layer by layer and cooled into column like rocks.

During the last ice age, a few thousand years ago, silt laden water from melting glaciers carved the Helmcken canyon through the layers of lava. The Murtle river is still enlarging the canyon today.

Helmcken Falls is 141 meters tall. Compare that to the 50 meters of Niagara Falls.

Wow, what a gorgeous water fall! The rolling water in the pool below is amazing. You captured this with great light and color. -Jenn

Impressive waterfall and water spray contrasting nicely with the deep green vegetation around. Not a place for people having a bad head for heights ;-) Well expressed feeling of that here. Well done, Julie.

Hi Julie. Great shot. Good composition whith nice colours and sharpness . I love this photo. Congratulations.

This looks so nice. I wish I was there. I wonder though how it would have looked in portrait format, and POV firther down to the right.

Nature view at his best. Love this POV.
